Calling interested php programmers.

1. We'd like to make the gallery maps far prettier and more interactive.


The wishlist includes
  • Bigger picture on the popup when you click on the pin
  • Click through from the popup to either the fullsized image in the gallery or a full sized popup of the image

The relevant php scripts and template files can be found in the programs gallery here:

2. We also need the uploading process to be more stramlined than it currently is.

On the user preferences page you can put in your own geotag by clicking straight through to this google map locator, placing a tag on the map and asking it to save that point. If anyone can adapt this system to our image gallery upload page that would be great. It might be coming in tikiwiki 1.10 (not sure), but tikiwiki 1.10 is currently unstable and does not handle our news feed on the front page well at all.

Accuracy of the data.
  • There is an element of trust, in theory people could upload rubbish.
  • We have the ability to geotag ourselves as members (under use google map locator). You can put yourself over your local post office. Members can indicate their willingness to take the occasional detour and act as a sort of area moderator, checking entered locations.
  • These people could even have locations that are "dobbed in" by non-members sent to them for non-urgent visiting, and uploading.

(need to make a note of one someone mentions to you while you are out? Add them to the list - photograph them when you get around to it, if noone else gets to them first, then take them off.)
